Grodan is a tool for people living with cognitive decline. Mental exercise and meaningful stimulation — no ads, no internet, no hassle.
Why Grodan exists.
I built mobile games for children for many years. When my father began to develop cognitive decline, I came across the idea of "use it or lose it" — the brain simply needs to be used in everyday life to keep its abilities.
Daily brain training calls for tools at home that are both easy to use and stimulating. Many people already own a tablet, and there are plenty of good apps to download — but how do you cope with the technology when your brain no longer works the way it used to?
My father had owned a tablet for years and used it a great deal. He played games, shopped online and read the news. As his cognitive abilities declined, it grew harder to navigate and to tell good apps from bad ones. He started making unwanted purchases and signed up for expensive subscriptions. Spam and malware got in when he clicked on dubious ads, and the tablet eventually became unusable.
An ordinary tablet is not made for people living with cognitive decline. So I set out to build an alternative. Grodan is a safe, easy-to-use tablet with activities for brain training — no ads, no notifications, no app store, no internet to keep watch over.
How Grodan differs from a tablet.
Eight things that go wrong on an ordinary tablet. Eight things Grodan does differently.
